Rising Sun Ornament
Crafted by Burundian and Congolese women living in Rwanda.
This sweetgrass basket is handwoven using a time-honoured weaving technique. The design represents the additional strength and persistence needed to rise again after being forced from home. These ornaments are made by refugee artisans in Rwanda to using time-honoured weaving techniques that have been passed down through generations. They are crafted by hand with natural materials, and genuine artisan skill.

This ensures that each artisan receives a fair wage, has decent working conditions and that the 10 principles of Fair Trade are met.
